Therapeutic use of Cannabidiol (CBD) products is rapidly gaining popularity in the wellness scene and in spas across the US.

The demand for CBD Spa products has grown exponentially with the changes in legalization laws and the increase of education and awareness of CBD effectiveness. CBD infused products such as cocktails and lattes are gaining media spotlight, while massage therapists and spas alike are embracing CBD infused oils, lotions, and salts to meet the needs of their clients.

If you aren't already a CBD aficionado, you probably have some questions about CBD use, safety, and legality.

1. CBD will not get you high.

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a chemical compound, or cannabinoid, found in industrial hemp plants. Unlike its well known sister cannabinoid, THC, it is non-psychoactive, meaning it will not get you “high."

2. CBD can help with a variety of medical conditions.

On the other hand, CBD does appear to positively benefit our bodies! CBD can be beneficial with pain management, anxiety, sleep, skin conditions, and strains and sprains. CBD may be used for analgesic, anti-inflammatory and anti-anxiety purposes. These pain relieving, nurturing, and relaxing qualities do make CBD an optimal ingredient for a spa setting.

CBD Spa3. CBD is safe and non-habit forming.

In a recent report put out by the World Health Organization (Nov 2017,) CBD has been reported as safe and potentially helpful for many ailments. “In humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential…. To date, there is no evidence of public health related problems associated with the use of pure CBD.”

4. CBD is legal in Oregon.

All 50 states have laws legalizing CBD with varying degrees of restriction. Laws do vary from state to state, which makes access to CBD inconsistent in the US. States where cannabis is fully legal, such as Oregon, access to CBD is not restricted.

5. CBD History

Use of cannabis is not new! Humans have been cultivating cannabis since 4000 years BCE. In 1533, scientists and physicians began studying the medical benefits of cannabis. In the mid-1950s, when scientists could extract cannabidiol and prove that CBD is a non-psychoactive component of the cannabis plant, the study and subsequent legal battle for CBD began. Is CBD Effective for Spa Treatments?

After extensive CBD product research and testing, we decided to utilize them here! Zama, at its heart, is a therapeutic pain relief spa. The more research and education we did about CBD, the more abundantly clear it became that we needed to make it an option for our clients. Because CBD is anti-inflammatory, using it in our massages allows the effects of the massage to go even deeper. The massage, in turn, circulates the CBD, which enhances its effects! It's a win-win!

Here at Zama we have crafted Signature CBD Spa Services.

This means that we don't just add CBD into our services. We strategically created CBD protocols that bring the most potency to the areas you need it the most. We carefully selected CBD products that could deliver this signature approach to our clients.

With our Signature CBD Spa Service approach here at Zama, you will see that with our CBD Massage we strategically spot treat our clients with our potent CBD product, CBD Clinic Massage Oil Level 3 (professional grade) and use steam heat to expedite the penetration. We then layer on Vital Body Therapeutics CBD Massage Cream blended with 8 soothing and aromatic herbs, for your whole body massage. Our CBD Happy Feet Pedicure uses a CBD salt soak and a CBD massage with heated booties and hot stones to maximize CBD delivery and absorption.

Additionally, you can add CBD to customize the massage, facial, pedicure, or manicure of your choice! Book now!
